Arunachal Pradesh Bhikkhu Sangha and it future plan

Arunachal Pradesh Bhikkhu Sangha (APBS), is an  organization of the Theravada Buddhist Monks in Arunachal Pradesh working in the fields of spiritual development, social harmony, enhance capacity of bhikkhus to do their chores in an efficient manner, impart quality education, run public libraries, meditation centre, spread the message of peace, non-violence, love and compassion of the Buddha and thereby preserve Buddhist culture and tradition.  Arunachal Pradesh Bhikkhu Sangha was established in 1972 under the Guidance of  Late the Most Venerable  Silavansa Mahathero. A constitution was adopted and the APBS was registered by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh vide Number SR/ITA/561 on the 15th day of March 1999.

Mission and vision of the organization is to search for inner peace, through love and compassion.

For the Bhikkhu Sangha the society shall aim

  • To promote discipline, unity, religious activity and vigour in propagation of dhamma.
  • To advance the efficiency of bhikkhus.
  • To provide training, apprenticeship, education and research.
  • To promote dignity, sense of purpose and urgency.

To assign an independent status to the Sangha so that it may acquire, modify, maintain, improve and dispose property both movable and immovable

For the Bhikkhu Sangha and lay people

  • To diversify its activities in the field of quality education, management of hostel , construction of temple, pagodas, library, meditation centre, monk training centre, etc.
  • To start and run public Libraries, reading room and study circle.
  • To work for the greatest good of the greatest number.
  • To propagate the teaching of the Lord Buddha, to spread his message of compassion, wisdom and non-violence mentally, verbally and physically.
  • To preserve and promote Theravada Buddhist Culture and Arts.
  • To develop Dhammabumi Buddhist Centre into a Buddhist Cultural Resources and Training Centre.
  • To work for marginalised section of the society-older people, PwD and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV)
  • To work for health and wellbeing of all sections of the society.
  • To publish books, pamphlets, periodicals and other study material.
